Ecosystem Momentum

Since the last newsletter we’ve continued to see considerable growth of the RISC-V ecosystem. We’ve welcomed 15 new members, increasing our membership to 150 organizations, individuals, academics and universities from 25 countries around the world.
In February the Foundation exhibited at Embedded World in Germany with members Antmicro, GreenWaves Technologies, Imperas, Syntacore, UltraSoC and VectorBlox. During the show the booth was packed with attendees buzzing about the exciting announcements, solutions and demos from member companies. We also hosted a RISC-V Class featuring 10 sessions from member companies, universities and the Foundation. Read more about our activities at Embedded World here.
In May the RISC-V ecosystem gathered for the RISC-V Workshop in Barcelona, which was our largest Workshop held outside of Silicon Valley with over 325 attendees. We would like to share a special thanks to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) for co-hosting the Workshop, and to NXP and Western Digital for co-sponsoring the successful event. Check out the proceedings from the Workshop here.
The Foundation will be exhibiting next at the Design Automation Conference (DAC) in San Francisco with member companies Imperas, Microsemi, SiFive, Syntacore, UltraSoC and Western Digital. On June 24 attend the RISC-V Ecosystem – Reshaping The CPU Landscape workshop to watch sessions from the RISC-V Foundation, NXP and SiFive. From June 25 – 27 our booth will feature a variety of talks from member companies so make sure to stop by. We’ll also be hosting an in-booth scavenger hunt for attendees to win prizes. Finally, the Foundation will be participating in the panel Core Choices: How To Navigate The Brave New World Of IP on June 26. We hope to see you there!
This summer don’t miss out on the next RISC-V events: the RISC-V Day in Shanghai on June 30 and the RISC-V Workshop in Chennai July 18-19. These events will showcase the momentum of the RISC-V ecosystem in APAC, in addition to the ecosystem’s global reach. Register for the events today to secure your spot.
And a big congratulations to David Patterson, vice chair of the RISC-V Foundation Board of Directors, and John Hennessy for winning the prestigious 2017 ACM Turing Award for their work on RISC architecture. David and John will receive the award at ACM’s annual awards banquet on Saturday, June 23 in San Francisco.
As always, thank you for your continued support of the Foundation and the RISC-V ecosystem. We can’t wait for what’s in store for the rest of 2018.
