Thanks to a wealth of industry support, RISC-V International is becoming ever stronger: ‘Many large companies have joined the foundation, meaning that no single company has the power to shut down or aggressively take over the open-source ISA,’ explains Luca Benini. ‘With over 2,700 members, the RISC-V community is growing rapidly,’ adds Calista Redmond, chief executive of RISC-V International. This year, Intel was a high-profile addition to the foundation’s premier membership category, joining the likes of Alibaba and Google, along with government bodies such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the RISC-V International Open Source Laboratory and Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
