The open source sharing feature makes software flourish and not monopolized. So is there also open source hardware? Su Xinmeng, technical director and executive vice president of Jingxin Technology, introduced the open source instruction set architecture RISC-V.
The stacking of the computing architecture can be divided into eight layers from top to bottom, the top four layers are software, and the bottom four layers are hardware. The four layers of software are development tools, application software, mediation software, and operating systems.
The top layer of the hardware is the Instruction Set Architecture (ISA). It is an interface, such as ARM architecture, x86, RISC-V. It can design various processors with an instruction set architecture.
