Startup AI processor developer Esperanto Technologies Inc. (Mountain View, Calif.) has raised $58 million in a series B round of investment. This brings the total invested in Esperanto to $63 million. The money will be used for the company’s planned development of AI and machine learning chips in 7nm manufacturing process. The company had already revealed that it is planning an AI chip that is projected to contain more than 4,000 64bit processor cores on 7nm manufacturing technology.
Esperanto plans to use the open standard RISC-V Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) and other open standards such as the Open Compute Platform (OCP), Pytorch ML framework, Glow ML compiler, and the Open Neural Network Exchange (ONNX).
