Scientists at the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems IMS have developed a powerful microcontroller core based on the free RISC-V instruction set architecture and its addition of hardware acceleration for AI application. According to the company, the institute, together with the Alf-ES-Framework for Embedded AI, has enabled a system for the use of artificial intelligence on sensor- or actuator-related embedded systems.
