AWS announced support for the open source instruction set architecture (ISA) RISC-V at the core of the FreeRTOS (Real-Time Operating System) operating system. The core supports the RISC-V profiles RV32I and RV64I and can be extended to support any RISC-V microcontroller, providing users have cost-effective smart devices.
FreeRTOS is an operating system designed for microcontrollers that operates on different instruction set architectures. Amazon FreeRTOS integrates a range of IoT libraries on the original FreeRTOS to support low-power Bluetooth, OTA updates and other functions.
