Finance Sina Article: Turing Award Winner David Patterson: Dawan District Needs Excellent Talent Open Source System To Help R & D

On April 11, the 6th class of the “Science Entrepreneur” project, jointly organized by Wudaokou Finance College of Tsinghua University, Shenzhen International Graduate School of Tsinghua University and Sloan School of Management of MIT (Smith Management School), officially opened in Huizhou. This class is specially designed for science entrepreneurs in Dawan District of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. It aims to combine the cutting-edge technological innovation of the world with the industrial and enterprise development needs of Dawan District and directly assist Bay Area Construction.
“Many of the world’s best-known companies in China are located in the Greater Bay Area of ​​Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau,” said David Patterson, the 2017 Turing Award winner  invited to teach the class. In an interview with the Economic Reporter, he said, “We believe that the technology we are doing here will help to innovate companies and their products in the Greater Bay Area.”
Patterson pointed out that there are many world-renowned Chinese technology companies in the Greater Bay Area, which has its advantages.  The University of California at Berkeley and Tsinghua University, in collaboration with Tsinghua-Berkeley Shenzhen Institute (TBSI), are developing a new open source hardware vision, built on a module that everyone can use for free,  and stimulate public innovation. Previously, Patterson has announced that it is officially relying on TBSI to build an open source RISC-V (Fifth Generation Reduced Instruction Architecture) laboratory RIOS.
