There is a high interest in RISC-V, an open architecture for CPU core development. Open source allows designers to freely design CPU cores that are optimized for the embedded system design that developers want, without using ARM’s commercial IP, which is a core design asset (IP) business.
Core-based design optimized for services and applications is attracting more attention than current technologies that have reached the limits of semiconductor micro-processing technology. Unlike commercial IP, the eco-system is also greatly expanding because developers can quickly and effectively design their own applications.
