The approval of the grant application at NLNet and the European Commission ‘s Next Generation Internet Initiative means that the project can carry out development work in the coming year, Luke Leighton of the Libre RISC-V M-Class project reports, “For the right people with the right skills, money is now available. ” The project will now try to obtain additional subsidy to be able to demonstrate “formal mathematical proof” for the processor design.
The Libre RISC-V M-Class project aims at the development of an efficient SoC with GPU whose source code is publicly available for all components. According to the inventors of the project, the hardware requirements are relatively modest. The development aims for a 64-bit quadcore based on the RISC-V architecture with a clock speed of 800 MHz.
