EETimes Japan Article: More And More Groups Are Set Up For Open Hard Development

Proponents of Intel and RISC-V announced the establishment of a rival alliance. It is said that we will build competing ecosystems with an eye on the processors of the future.
Intel has announced an open Chip-to-Chip (Chip-to-Chip) interconnect standard “Compute Express Link (CXL).” It will be used on its processor in 2021 and will be connected to accelerators and memory. Members include Alibaba, Cisco, Dell EMC, Facebook, Google, HPE, Huawei, and Microsoft.
In addition, a few RISC-V advocates announced the establishment of “CHIPS Alliance”. As part of the Linux Foundation project, he will develop a wide variety of open source intellectual property (IP) blocks and tools for the instruction set architecture. Initial members include Esperanto, Google, SiFive and Western Digital. CHIPS is an abbreviation of “Common Hardware for Interfaces, Processors, and Systems”.
