Western Digital Corporation and SiFive have partnered with PlatformIO Labs OÜ. Access to PlatformIO will be facilitated by new tools to create a consistent, open environment for new developments, including development for RISC-V. “Working with PlatformIO brings the entire embedded design environment, including debugging and trace, into the open source community,” said Martin Fink, chief technology officer of Western Digital. With deep libraries and automated support built in, programmers could switch between development platforms, including RISC-V.
