In a recent interview, Naveed Sherwani, CEO of the RISC-V based IP start-up company SiFive, said RISC-V has developed so much faster than expected so that he has to adjust his previous forecast for RISC-V’s development. Naveed Sherwani said that it will take only 2 years for RISC-V to enter smartphone or even laptop markets, and in 5 years it can enter the server market. Apart from RISC-V itself, another important reason that makes Naveed so confident is China market’s huge demand for processors with independent property rights, for which RISC-V poses an opportunity.
