Hello RISC-V Members,

Call to Action!

We are now getting close to the election of our Strategic and Community representatives to the RISC-V International Board of Directors and I’m writing to you today in request for your thoughtful and strategic nominees.

We invite members to participate in RISC-V governance as outlined in our governing documents as well as through our many RISC-V committees and groups. All RISC-V members have a voice on the Board.

Role of a Board Director

Elected Directors are members of and vote on behalf of their respective membership tier. Directors are expected to attend all board meetings. At these meetings, they will represent the other RISC-V members at their level in discussions as well as votes, and will make themselves available for regular communication with the other members at their level. Representatives will vote on behalf of their membership tier, not for their specific companies.

For more guidance on board member expectations and requirements, see Article 11(B)(iii) of the Articles of Association. Each board seat lasts for two years, provided that the Director’s organization remains a member in good standing during that time.

According to Article 11(B)(iii) of the Articles of Association:

  • The Premier Standard Members and the Strategic Members voting as a single class shall elect three (3) Strategic Directors
  • The Community Members voting as a single class shall elect one (1) Community Director and one (1) Academic Director

Nominations and Election

Nominations are welcome May 8 – June 6, 2026. Any member in good standing may self-nominate using the online form, whose link is being sent in a separate email, and candidates will be featured on our 2026 Elections website page.

All members in good standing between June 8 and July 7 may vote on the candidates for their tier. A unique electronic ballot link will be sent to each member’s voting contact on June 8. For those members unable to vote using this method, we will accommodate votes by email on request.

Newly elected representatives will be announced and effective on July 8, 2026 and welcomed at the Board meeting on July 16.

Note for Organization Members: Ballot links will be sent to your organization’s primary voting representative. Each organization may only vote once. To confirm your organization’s primary voting representative, please email elections@riscv.org
