RISC-V International has succeeded in ratifying 40 new technical specifications relating to the RISC-V instruction set architecture (ISA) over the course of the last 2 years.
This means that engineers teams looking to employ RISC-V in their future designs can have assured confidence in its integrity and interoperability, thereby encouraging greater uptake across the globe. The standards organisation currently has 75 technical working groups conducting specification work. Its efforts will be of value to companies situated in the various markets that RISC-V is targeting – such as avionics, automotive, high-performance computing, data centres, etc. It means the specific requirements of each of these markets can be addressed by suitable extensions to the ISA.
