The Barcelona RISC-V Summit from June 5-9 to focus on industries such as Automotive, High Performance Compute/Data Center, and Security; Call for Submissions and Sponsorships now open

BARCELONA, Spain – February 27, 2023 RISC-V International, the global open standards organization, announced plans for the first ever RISC-V Summit Europe to be held in Barcelona from June 5-9, 2023.  The event will feature invited keynotes and selected talks, alongside an exhibition showcasing the latest developments across industries and the research community, including technology demonstrations and poster sessions.

RISC-V, the open standard instruction set architecture (ISA), is enabling a range of new applications and research in areas such as automotive, high performance compute, space, and more, that will define the future of computing in Europe. The region has been central to RISC-V’s success as one-third of RISC-V’s global community is based in Europe, with billions of Euros being poured into RISC-V initiatives.

“The RISC-V community is thriving in Europe with a strong culture of contribution and collaboration that we look forward to showcasing at the event,” said Calista Redmond, CEO of RISC-V International. “By working together, RISC-V members are accelerating innovation and seizing global opportunities across the compute spectrum, proving that RISC-V is truly inevitable.”

RISC-V Summit Europe brings together developers, architects, executives, and policy makers from across the global RISC-V ecosystem. Attendees from academia, government, research, SMEs, industry, and open source communities will gather to share knowledge, ideas, technologies, and research shaping the future of RISC-V computing.

“RISC-V enables a new era of processor innovation through open standard collaboration,” said Mateo Valero, director of Barcelona Supercomputing Center- Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS). “BSC is a leader in driving adoption of RISC-V in Europe because we are convinced that developing RISC-V processors and accelerators is the only option Europe has for being autonomous in supercomputing.”

“After strong interest and participation in the recent RISC-V Week in France, RISC-V Activities Workshop in Germany, and Red-RISC-V in Spain, we felt Europe should have its own marquee event,” said Christian Fabre, senior researcher and engineer at CEA, who is the 2023 event chair. “There are a lot of deep, innovative collaborations around RISC-V going on around Europe, and RISC-V Summit Europe will be a perfect opportunity to meet the lively community and showcase the momentum.”
