embedded world, the leading trade show covering hardware, software, tools, and related services for the embedded systems market, took place in Nuremberg, Germany between 11-13 March 2025. This year, the show attracted over 32,000 visitors and hosted 1,200 Exhibitors from 46 different countries.
RISC-V International made a strong impact at the show with a 100m² RISC-V Pavilion booth, a dedicated RISC-V speaking track at the conference, and participation from over 50 member organizations showcasing at their booths.
The RISC-V Pavilion
The RISC-V Pavilion was an impressive 10m x 10m open-sided booth in Hall 5, featuring a presentation theater, a developer zone, meeting areas, and six demo pods hosted by sponsoring member organizations.
The six participating members — SiFive, Siemens, Synopsys, DeepComputing, Semidynamics, and Andes Technology — showcased a diverse range of RISC-V ecosystem solutions, including semiconductor IP, software, EDA tools, processors, and end-user devices. Live technical presentations drew strong engagement, with all available chairs and stools consistently filled.
Developer Zone
The developer zone highlighted the wide range of RISC-V-based hardware, from small MCU boards and developer/hobbyist boards to application-class processors and fully functional RISC-V-based laptops. Over 10 member organizations contributed hardware samples for display.
Attendees were genuinely impressed by the momentum RISC-V has gained and surprised by the broad range of available products. Excitement was particularly high around groundbreaking announcements, such as the debut of a RISC-V Framework laptop board.
There was strong enthusiasm among younger attendees, especially students and developers who had worked with RISC-V in college or personal projects. Commercially focused attendees recognized the growing availability of solutions and acknowledged RISC-V as a viable alternative. Several training and support organizations also noted increasing customer demand to integrate RISC-V into their programs.
RISC-V Track Speaking Sessions
On Wednesday, March 12th, there was a dedicated RISC-V speaking track, moderated by Andrea Gallo.
Around 30 delegates attended the morning session, which featured presentations from Microchip, Quintauris, and Codasip. Topics included the simplicity of porting software from other ISAs to RISC-V (Microchip), selecting the right extensions to optimize RISC-V for real-time automotive applications (Quintauris), and adding new custom instructions while maintaining full compliance with standards (Codasip).
The session concluded with a lively Q&A, where multiple thoughtful questions from attendees highlighted a strong interest in RISC-V.
RISC-V Related Industry Announcements, Momentum, and Partnerships
Announcements from Infineon about their RISC-V-based automotive MCU roadmap and from the European Union regarding €240M in funding for DARE (RISC-V processors for Europe) were well received, with most visitors aware of and impressed by the news. Infineon’s announcement, in particular, signaled that RISC-V is now ready for the mass market, expanding beyond custom embedded solutions.
Throughout the event, meetings with analysts and media reinforced the consensus that RISC-V has gained remarkable momentum, showing impressive growth compared to last year. It’s clear that the industry has shifted toward accelerating RISC-V adoption.
Member Community Engagement and Feedback
To raise RISC-V’s profile across the event, a new membership board program was introduced. Exhibiting organizations were provided with a desktop plaque indicating their RISC-V membership. Around 25 of the 50 exhibiting members displayed a board, which sparked curiosity and led multiple attendees to visit the pavilion to learn more about RISC-V after noticing the boards throughout the show.
Participating exhibitors expressed appreciation for being part of a broader RISC-V community and valued the increased visibility the program provided.
