Individual levels of technical career achievement

RISC-V Distinguished Architect

This is the highest award for individuals who have made consistent architectural contributions to RISC-V that had a positive impact on the growth and acceptance of RISC-V. These contributions may include work on ratified ISA / Non-ISA specifications, or development in the RISC-V software ecosystem.

Initiated in 2022, RISC-V Committee/Group Chairs or RISC-V Staff may nominate recipients. The process includes a majority approval vote from eligible TSC voters. Once the TSC approves the nominee, they are passed to the Board of Directors for final approval. Approval will come with a letter and recognition on the RISC-V website, as well as announcement at a major annual RISC-V Summit.

RISC-V Technical Leader

The technical leader designation is reserved for those individuals who have led groups in the organization to bring specifications to ratification or complete work in the software ecosystem. The individual should have either led a group or technically led an effort that made a positive impact for RISC-V. The individual had to display exemplary human interactions skills to work with a group to accomplish their goals.

RISC-V Technical Innovator

The technical innovator category includes those individuals that have provided strong continuous technical contribution above and beyond expectations. This may include innovation in a specification or the software ecosystem contributing to the ratification and acceptance of RISC-V.

Initiated in 2022, RISC-V Committee/Group Chairs or RISC-V Staff may nominate recipients. The process includes a majority approval vote from eligible TSC voters. Approval will come with a letter and recognition on the RISC-V website, as well as announcement at a major annual RISC-V Summit.

RISC-V Certification

The RISC-V Foundational Associate (RVFA) exam demonstrates an individual possesses the fundamental, entry-level knowledge and skills required of RISC-V hardware and software professionals.

Technical Steering Committee

Technical Steering Committee duties include delegation of responsibilities to organizational components below it, strategy, escalations, group & chair & preliminary charter approvals, ratification. voting (most discussion and notification by email, web page listing and supporting docs, automated voting system). Technical experts engaged in community evangelism including local community groups, social media, conference speakers, blogs, videos, etc.

Organization programs

RISC-V Developer Boards Program

Evangelizes and promotes the RISC-V architecture by partnering with RISC-V hardware vendors to donate hardware to early adopters, academia, and software distributions. RISC-V collects results of this work in order to help others understand what is possible with RISC-V and promotes sharing experiences and best practices.

RISC-V Development Partner Program

Recognizes investment and dedication of member organizations making significant technical contributions to RISC-V in support of meeting the acceptance criteria necessary for ratification including the formal model, simulation, compatibility testing, and open source software ecosystem development. Development partners typically commit to working on 3 simultaneous medium sized projects for each year they participate in the program.
