Topics:

1. What is RISC-V?

Many technical people are not aware of RISC-V or what RISC-V is. In this video, “What is RISC-V?,” the targeted audience is a technical audience that may be fellow engineers or product management professionals. In this three minutes or less video, the message must cover the following topics:

• What is RISC-V?
• How has and how is RISC-V being developed?
• How is the RISC-V architecture maintained differently than other processor Instruction Set Architectures (ISA)? Focus on RISC-V’s benefits, avoid negative feedback to other ISA’s or competing organizations.

The video will be judged by a panel whose rubric will include how well these questions are answered, the presentation, and the video quality. For a complete list of rules and how it will be judged, please refer to the contests rules and rubric.

2. Why RISC-V?

Many technical people are not aware of RISC-V or what is RISC-V. In this video, “Why RISC-V?,” the targeted audience is a technical audience that may be fellow engineers or product management professionals. In this three minutes or less video, the message must cover the following topics:

• What problem does RISC-V resolve?
• What benefits and opportunities does RISC-V resolve and what contributions to advancing technology?
• How is RISC-V unique from other possible solutions?

The video will be judged by a panel whose rubric will include how well these questions are answered, the presentation, and the video quality. For a complete list of rules and how it will be judged, please refer to the contests rules and rubric.

3. Explain RISC-V to a Non-Technical Person

There are no major consumer products with a prominent label of “RISC-V Inside” like other processor architectures. Without a broad marketing campaign to the consumer market, the larger broader non-technical audience is not familiar with RISC-V. In this three minutes or less video, the message must cover the following topics:

• What is RISC-V?
• Why and how RISC-V can make a difference to consumers and society?
• How can RISC-V improve lives and society?
• What is a standard? How does an industry standard increase progress?

The video will be judged by a panel whose rubric will include how well these questions are answered, the presentation, and the video quality. For a complete list of rules and how it will be judged, please refer to the contests rules and rubric.

Grading rubric:

• How well the video introduces the topic (10%)
• Accuracy of the content (20%)
• Topic is covered to a meaningful extent in the time allotted (10%)
• How well the video uses specific data or examples (10%)
• How clearly the topics are presented (20%)
• The quality of the video, audio and closed captions (20%)
• Creativity (10%)

Awards: 

Prizes will be given out for each category as either an Amazon Gift Card in your local currency (equivalent to the prize amount) OR equivalent value in Linux Foundation Training and Certification Credit. Selected videos will be placed on the RISC-V International YouTube channel to be shared with the broader community through our social media platforms. Award prizes are thanks to the generous donation by Codasip!
