Phoenix, AZ  – May 29, 2019 – Semico Research and Consulting and the RISC-V Foundation, a non-profit corporation controlled by its members to drive the adoption and implementation of the free and open RISC-V instruction set architecture (ISA),  recently announced an agreement for Semico to author a market research report on the current and future potential of the RISC-V architecture. Scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2019, the comprehensive report will be based on original research, creating reliable and actionable third-party data.
“Third-party research focused on RISC-V will help guide the market development efforts of our member companies, and provide an impartial forecast of RISC-V’s future growth and adoption to prospective users of the architecture,” said Calista Redmond, CEO of the RISC-V Foundation.
“Semico is excited to take on this specific project because it is an excellent fit with our current research efforts in the SoC, ASIC, and IP markets. We look forward to reporting on the future of the RISC-V ecosystem,” says Jim Feldhan, President, Semico Research.
Some of the key elements of the agreement are:

  • The report itself will cover 25 specific applications under the main headings of computer, communications, consumer, and industrial
  • Semico’s RISC-V research report will be available for purchase by RISC-V Foundation members and the general public
  • The research data, provided in an accompanying spreadsheet, will include a 5-year forecast for shipments of CPU cores and chips, plus design starts by geometry for each of the 25 applications
  • RISC-V Foundation member companies will be extended a discounted purchase price on the sale of the report
