At the moment when chips are safe, autonomous and controllable, the attention of the Chinese people, a completely open source instruction set architecture, RISC-V, which has no patent authorization restrictions, continues to increase. More and more Chinese startup companies are setting their sights on the design and development of RISC-V chips in order to achieve breakthrough development in emerging markets such as the Internet of Things and AI.

36Kr recently came into contact with “Risechip” is a company that provides high-end core processor solutions in the RISC-V open source ecosystem. The company was founded in 2018, is headquartered in Shenzhen, and has multiple offices in Silicon Valley, Shenzhen, and Chengdu in the United States. Based on the RISC-V instruction set, the company independently developed ultra-low-power edge AI chip SoC, AI chip IP core and related software and hardware integration solutions. At the same time, RISCIC is one of the key cooperative enterprises of the RISC-V International Open Source Laboratory. The laboratory was founded by David Patterson, the founder of RISC-V, focusing on the research in the RISC-V open source instruction set CPU ecology.
