RISC-V is an open standard instruction-set architecture for computer chips. RISC stands for “reduced instruction set computer.” Lately, this project has attracted a lot of attention. Why is there so much momentum around RISC-V? After all, it’s just another CPU instruction-set architecture (ISA), right? Well, in fact, it’s bigger than that. The true revolution lies in the open hardware movement, and RISC-V is its current spearhead.
