Elektroniikkalehti Article: Efficiency In Telemetry And Cost Of Satellite Services Down

Low orbit LEO satellites (Low Earth Orbit) have become commercially relevant for providing low latency and high capacity broadband services as well as M2M communications and imaging. At a distance of 180-2000 kilometers from the ground, the LEO satellites are relatively inexpensive compared to the satellites passing through the MEO satellites (12000-36000 km) or geostationary track. In addition, they operate at a lower RF power.
Commercial pressures are now squeezing the satellite’s material costs, while operating costs are shrinking and attempts are made to improve reliability. Radiation-resistant analog-mixed signal circuits, along with radiation-resistant FPGA circuits with an integrated RISC-V processor architecture, helping designers meet their goals.
